Vienna City Shopping
Shopping is a pleasure in Vienna - elegant boutiques, department stores and a surprising diversity of speciality shops are clustered in the city center as well as the surrounding districts, interspersed with cafes and bars for those necessary breaks.
Vienna City Center
The most fashionable shopping streets are located within the city center, all being pedestrian zones:
The Kärntnerstrasse, stretching from the Opera house to Stephansplatz.
Directly adjacent, the upmarket Graben starts from Stephansplatz to the west, followed by Kohlmarkt, where a lot of designer labels can be found.
Scattered around the fairly touristic city center you can also find all the mainstream fashion stores as well as many souvenir shops.
Kärntner Strasse
Stretching from the Opera house (U1,U2,U4 Karlsplatz) to Stephansplatz (U1,U3 Stephansplatz), the pedestrianized Kärntner Strasse is one of the most popular shopping streets in Vienna. Expect to find mostly upscale stores of a great variety (from jewelry and watches to books, music, fashion and stationery) as well as souvenir booths, restaurants and cafés and even the Vienna Casino.

Alternative shopping
The quarter north of Mariahilfer Strasse, including Westbahnstrasse, Siebensterngasse and Neubaugasse towards Zieglergasse is the perfect place for alternative and trendy shopping. The offers range from second hand shops, asian and latino venues to young and fashionable designer stores and ethnic supermarkets. Make sure to take a break at one of the countless little cafés!
