Wine and dine - special!

Vienna features an extremely wide variety of pubs and restaurants, from very basic budget eateries to posh and extremely upscale places.
Ready for something special? On this page we listed some of the special places that do not really fit into one of the other categories or that we think deservce particular consideration:

Würstelstand Leo

Probably the best known sausage stand in town, the Würstelstand Leo provides all the traditional stuff the Viennese love: Leberkäsesemmel (meat loaf, served in a bun) or Käsekrainer (sausage with cheese - usually cut into pieces with mustard).
where: 1090, Währinger Gürtel/Nussdorfer Str.
when: daily 09h30-04h00

Trzesniewski

A small but famous deli bar in the city center, the Trzesniewski has been a local facourite for decades. Large selection of surprisingly delicious Brötchen (petite ready-made sandwiches), best to be consumed with a Pfiff (1/8l) of beer.
where: 1010, Dorotheergasse 1 (U Stephansplatz)
when: Mon-Fri 08h30-19h30, Sat 09h00-17h00

Deewan

Looking for a hip and unconventional place, where you eat what you like and pay what you wish? Then the Deewan is the place to be. Enjoy Pakistani curry (mixed selection, partly vegetarian) in a relaxed and very sympathic atmosphere.
where: 1090, Liechtensteinstrasse 10
when: Mon-Sat 11h00-23h00

Café Hawelka

The Café Hawelka is one of the most famous coffee houses (typical Kaffeehaus) in town. Having been around since several decades, it is still a place for writers and artists (nowadays tourists as well). Enjoy light snacks with your coffee or beer.
where: 1010, Dorotheergasse 6
when: daily 08h00(Sun 10h00)-02h00 (Tue closed)

Naschmarkt ©Hornplayer

Last but not least you should definitely stroll around Naschmarkt, maybe Viennas most popular food market. This place transformed over the years to a delicacy-lovers heaven with a heap of multicultural small delis, bars and restaurants.
where: between 1050 and 1060 at Wienzeile
public transport: U4 Karlsplatz
